Merseyside Police are issuing images of suspected stolen property found earlier this week in Hightown in an effort to reunite the items with their owners.
On Monday, April 15, various items were found in Blundell Road following a report from a member of the public that two men had discarded them on being seen. It is not yet known from where these items were taken, but they are described as follows:
Carrera Vulcan mountain bike
Apollo Evade mountain bike
Panasonic Toughbook laptop
Various coins, some antique

The countdown has begun to European Parliament Elections which will take place on Thursday, May 23.
More than five million people across North West England, including residents in Sefton, will have the opportunity to vote in these elections to select the region’s eight Members of the European Parliament (MEPs).
Vote being cast at a polling station
The North West European Elections count and declaration will take place in Manchester on Sunday, May 26, after polls close across Europe.
People will not be able to vote unless they have ensured they are on the Electoral Register. If you are not registered already, visit www.gov.uk/register-to-vote and register by the Tuesday, May 7 deadline.
European Union citizens living in the North West, are eligible to vote in either the United Kingdom or in their country of origin but not both. To vote in the United Kingdom, they must be registered to vote and have completed an additional form available at
The deadline for the return of this form is also Tuesday, May 7.
Anyone who is on the electoral register can choose to register to vote by post. Applications for a postal vote in this election must be received by 5pm on Wednesday, May 8. The deadline for proxy votes is 5pm on Wednesday, May 15. To find out more visit www.yourvotematters.co.uk
A full list of candidates for the European Parliament Elections will be published at 5pm on Thursday, April 25.
Joanne Roney OBE, Regional Returning Officer for the European Parliament Elections in the North West, said: “While the circumstances around these elections are somewhat unexpected, this election gives people the opportunity to elect the politicians who will represent them in Europe until such point as the UK leaves the European Union.
“Election teams across the North West are focused on the effective organisation of these elections and we don’t want anyone to miss out on their right to vote because they are not registered.”
The European Parliament Elections are run using a form of proportional representation. Voters have one vote only, and this can be cast for either a political party or an individual candidate.
Each political party puts forward a list of candidates for the North West and the number of MEPs that are elected will depend on the overall share of the vote that a party or individual candidate receives in the region.
MEPs represent the whole of the North West region and so everybody who is eligible to vote in the region will be voting for the same list of parties and candidates.
April Bank Holiday: All You Need To Know this weekend
Thousands of people are expected to visit beautiful Sefton this Bank Holiday weekend (April 19-22) and we’ve put together a list of helpful tips to make the most out of the borough.
Transport
People are strongly advised to plan their journeys as roads are expected to be much busier than normal and we are urging as many people as possible to consider using the wealth of fantastic public transport options
If you are driving through #MySefton, make sure you plan ahead and allow extra time for your journeys and some queues can be expected.
Formby Bypass
The Councils traffic signals contractor has identified an issue with a detection equipment at the junction of the A565 (Formby bypass) and Altcar Road which is currently contributing to delays.
While the contractor is working as quickly as possible to resolve this issue, some delays may be expected during the busy Easter Bank Holiday period and motorists are advised to plan ahead any journeys via this stretch of road.
Shopping
A visit to Sefton is not complete without sampling the shopping and restaurant delights of the borough.
After taking in the fantastic sights each day, why not explore the fantastic array of shops, restaurants and bars which Sefton has to offer?

Rubbish
Sefton is home to many beautiful and picturesque spots and we want to keep it that way. We actively encourage both visitors and residents alike to make sure they are responsible for their own rubbish and dispose of it in a sensible manner.
If you cannot find a bin to dispose of your rubbish responsibly, please take it home with you.
Sefton’s Year of Friendship has shone a light on the selfless way the borough’s residents support each other.
Sefton’s Council for Voluntary Services (CVS) is calling on that community spirit to lead Sefton’s contribution to Pay It Forward Day on April 28. The theme this year is “Our Gift to You, Your Gift to Give”.
Sefton CVS are hosting two Year of Friendship themed community events at Strand By Me in Bootle Strand Shopping Centre, Friday, April 26, 10am – 1pm and Southport Community Centre, Saturday, April 27, 11am – 4pm. Each event will see volunteers come together, share ideas, stories and create friendship bracelets to mark the occasion.
Building on the success of last year’s Pay It Forward Day, Sefton CVS and Sefton Council are asking residents to let them know about any events, activities or simple acts of kindness they are performing so they can spread the word throughout the borough.
In the spirit of the day, Sefton CVS are asking individuals and organisations to take part in and organise events across the weekend from Thursday April 25 – Sunday, April 28.
Activities may include:
A community meal
Sowing a Wild flower meadow
Giving books away
Giving away planters and bulbs
A free music concert
Giving away bunches of flowers
Buying a coffee for a stranger
Free cakes in the cafe
Free car wash
Paying for someone’s parking

We want your ideas for our Borough of Culture 2020 programme
Sefton will be named Liverpool City Region’s Borough of Culture in 2020 and wants ideas from communities, partners and businesses to ensure next year’s programme reflects the cultural diversity of the borough.
As Sefton always prides itself on being a borough of storytellers, the 2020 cultural programme will focus on stories about its people, places, history and the future.
Planning is well underway for 2020 and Sefton Council, who is providing the framework to connect these stories, events, activities and initiatives together, is urging people to get in touch with their ideas.
The aim is to build on the great things that already happen in Sefton and combine exciting existing events with some new ones, whilst supporting the promotion of those planned by partners and communities.
Executive Director Stephen Watson, Sefton’s project sponsor for Borough of Culture 2020 status, said: “We’ve already started talking to our communities and partners and we’re hearing some great ideas, which is also giving us a better understanding about what culture means to them.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase and build on Sefton’s already distinct cultural offer and we want to develop a programme that is focused on stories about us, by us, for us – ultimately with the aim of delivering positive outcomes for the whole borough.
“We’re open to new ideas and would love to hear them. With your help, we will ensure our programme is inclusive to all and will engender connectivity, pride and belonging across the borough.”

The Borough of Culture initiative is part of the Liverpool City Region’s 1% for Culture Programme, which involves a commitment from the LCR to spend the equivalent of 1% of its annual £30m devolution funding from government to support cultural activities. Wirral currently holds the status for 2019.
The five key principles that the LCR will expect Sefton to demonstrate during its year are: a focus on children and young people; positive outcomes; community participation; showcases the distinctiveness of Sefton; and leaves a legacy for cultural infrastructure.
