InvestSefton Economic Forum attracts business delegates from across Sefton

Over 100 delegates from businesses across Sefton attended InvestSefton’s Economic Forum at the Vincent Hotel, Southport.

The Forum, which is held twice a year, was chaired by Shirley Hunter, Director of Bootle-based Base Energy Services.  Speakers at the Forum included Brian Sloan, Deputy Agent from the Bank of England, who provided an economic update.  Paul Stowers, from the Department for International Trade (DIT), highlighted DIT’s forward strategy and Matt Parish, Director of the LFC Foundation, explained how local businesses could get involved in the foundation’s work.

Successful Bids for Borough of Culture!

A community VE Day celebration in Formby and a borough-wide programme of engaging young people with the older generation are some of the events Sefton is supporting for its Borough of Culture year.

Groups interested in hosting Borough of Culture themed events were asked to submit applications earlier in the year and the first wave of successful bids has just been announced.

This includes money for The Inclusion Network and their ‘Bootle’s Seal for Sefton’ project that looks at engaging disadvantaged young people with the arts.

A grant is also going to a VE Day Community Group set up to host a community street party in Formby celebrating the 75th VE Day anniversary.

Statement: Flags at Southport & Bootle Town Hall

A spokesman for Sefton Council said: “We were asked to support International Women’s Day by flying a flag above Bootle & Southport Town Halls which we did so with effect from Monday, March 2.

“However we have since been made aware of a potential issue regarding the messaging on the flag and have taken them down.

“Sefton Council is a local authority with a proud history of supporting LGBTQ+ rights across the borough, having previously been awarded the NAVAJO LGBTQ Quality Mark for our work and we continue to support all members of our communities.”

Beaches at Ainsdale and Southport to benefit from improved access and facilities

Sefton Council has given the go ahead to improve facilities at Ainsdale and Southport Beaches after granting approval at a full council meeting.

The proposed facilities and resources will improve safety and enhance the user experience for residents and visitors alike. This includes measures to reduce vehicle queuing times with new initiatives such as wider and improved entrances.
