Sefton Council business grants update

Following extensive communication and engagementSefton Council has received 3,100 applications for Business Grants over the last few weeks. We are pleased to confirm that the majority of Business Support Grants have been processed for those businesses who are eligible and supplied the correct information.

The total value of payments to be made so far now stands at over £20 million.

If you have not received your business support grant this will be due to a query regarding eligibility or an error on the form.   If you have submitted your personal name instead of your business bank account name on the on line form – Sefton Rates would ask to you re-submit with the correct details.

For all other queries – Sefton Rates team will contact you to resolve these other issues as quickly as possible.

We are aware that approximately 1,500 (30%) of targeted Sefton businesses have not yet completed the application process or made contact with the Council. We will continue to prioritise the processing any additional applications from Sefton businesses. If you are an eligible business within Sefton and have not yet applied for a business grant, you can apply via https://forms.sefton.gov.uk/covid19businessform/

Bootle lights up blue to honour NHS heroes

Sefton Council has lit up one of its civic buildings in the colours of the NHS to send a message of support to the countless health staff who are working tirelessly to fight the COVID-19 outbreak.

Bootle Town Hall was bathed in blue lights this evening (Thursday, March 26) joining hundreds of other civic buildings across the UK following the viral ‘Clap For Our Carers’ campaign.

The Oriel Road facade of the building proudly displayed the colours of the NHS to reiterate the overwhelming level of support, thanks and thoughts for our hard working frontline health staff

Cllr Ian Maher, Leader of Sefton Council, said: “Our appreciation for the thousands of people in our borough working for the NHS, as well as those across the UK is endless.

“Now more than ever we are indebted to their tireless service and support they are giving to our residents during these unprecedented times.

“Lighting up Bootle Town Hall is only a small token of our massive appreciation for the NHS and we are continuing to do all we can to support our communities and make them as resilient as possible to keep pressure off the NHS.”

COVID-19: Volunteering support available for vulnerable Sefton residents

Throughout our incredible borough we have seen an amazing community response rise up to help us support our elderly and vulnerable residents during this time.

To support this response, we have been working very closely with Sefton CVS to create a volunteer network to help coordinate and share resources and we encourage all those who are able to help to get in touch with any support you can offer.

The response from Sefton’s voluntary, community and faith sector to the COVID 19 situation has been fantastic and we encourage everyone to keep working together and with CVS and Sefton Council so we all can do our very best for those most in need.

Advice on Refuse & Recycling services during self isolation

*Please Note: There is currently a short delay in collecting household waste. Please leave your bins out for collection as usual. Operatives will be working during the weekend to assist in collecting residential waste.*

A spokesman for Sefton Council said: “We have business continuity plans in place to ensure essential services, such as refuse and recycling, continue for our communities.

“We are also utilising members of our street cleansing teams to assist with other refuse collection services.

“We would also like to ask any residents who are self-isolating as a result of COVID-19 to ensure they dispose of any used tissues or hygiene products in a double bag and present it for collection within their grey bins as normal.

“There is no need to arrange for a clinical waste collection for this type of waste.”
