Bootle electrical start-up praise InvestSefton for plugging in to growth opportunities

The owner of a Sefton business has praised the role of InvestSefton in helping his new venture become established.

Service Electrical Distributors Limited opened in August 2019 in Bootle’s Kingfisher Business Park.

The business, which currently employs 10 staff, was established by Marc Redfern, who has 23 years’ experience within the Electrical Wholesaling Industry.

With the contacts and experience Marc has built up within the industry he has managed to establish a viable business, forming key partnerships with social housing providers, electrical contractors, hotels, commercial and industrial customers, end users, education providers and the general public.

InvestSefton has supported Marc with identifying local networking and business support opportunities. Initial sales projections have been exceeded, with Service Electrical quickly establishing themselves as one of the region’s ‘go to’ electrical wholesalers.

Marc said: “It was a massive and scary decision leaving a large successful company to start my own business, but I firmly believed in my ability and the ability of my employees. The initial growth forecasts have been more than exceeded and I very much look forward to continuing this exciting journey we have started. Clients seem to be finding us through word of mouth and that is testament to the commitment and effort we have put into the business. We greatly appreciate the support Colin Hickey from Invest Sefton has given us and look forward to working very closely with Colin on future growth plans.”

Colin Hickey, Business Growth Adviser at Invest Sefton, said: “From the initial meeting I have been impressed with Marc’s commitment and ambitions for this venture. The team he has put together is both friendly and knowledgeable and I look forward to supporting him in the future success of Service Electrical Distributors Limited.”

Cllr Marion Atkinson, Sefton Council’s Labour Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Skills, said: “It is great for the borough to see businesses such as Service Electrical Distributors thrive. Invest Sefton play a key role in supporting new businesses in the borough, which is vital for Sefton’s future economic growth.”
