Time running out to nominate your ‘Pride of Sefton’

The inaugural Pride of Sefton Awards are taking place on 28 April 2023 and time is running out to nominate worthy winners from communities across the borough.

 

While sponsoring the Diversity and Inclusion Award, Sefton Council is encouraging local residents to nominate the amazing and selfless work of local heroes across all thirteen categories – you have until 6 March to make your nomination.

 

The award categories are listed below:

 

Main Award – Pride of Sefton

For a person or organisation who judges believe has made a truly inspiring or outstanding contribution to Sefton over the past two years.

 

Diversity and Inclusion Award

For those who have gone out of their way to promote diversity and inclusion in Sefton.

 

Sefton Arts Award

For those who have achieved remarkable things in the world of stage, screen, and music.

 

Charity Champion Award

For those charities who have raised money in inspiring ways that have made a real difference in Sefton.

 

Child of Courage Award

For young nominees who have shown immense courage in the face of adversity, whether battling illness, performing acts of bravery or doing something truly remarkable.

 

Courage Award

For adult nominees who have shown immense courage in the face of adversity, whether battling illness, performing acts of bravery or doing something truly remarkable.

 

Unsung Hero Award

For a person who makes a huge difference to Sefton’s communities, organisations or teams but is rarely in the limelight.

 

Community Impact Award

Who has had the biggest impact on their community? How have they made Sefton a better place or helped people?

 

Sportsperson of the Year

Whose achievements in the sporting arena have been the brightest over the past two years?

We want nominations from all sporting fields – from amateurs to professionals, and from coaches to players.

 

Young Sportsperson of the Year

Which of Sefton’s sporting juniors have recorded the biggest achievement? (Nominees must not have reached their 19th birthday by 1 March).

 

Business In The Community Award

For those businesses who have made a real difference in Sefton’s communities.

 

School Of The Year Award

Which school have gone further to really improve their community and the world around them?

 

Lifetime Achievement / Special Recognition Award

This award recognises a person who has made an outstanding and lasting contribution to life in Sefton.

 

Cllr Trish Hardy, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities and Housing, said: “The inaugural Pride of Sefton Awards are a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the very best of the best within our communities across the borough.

 

“We are a truly welcoming borough, which means we are rich with everyday heroes, both young and old, who represent the great and good of Sefton across the region and beyond.

 

“As a Local Authority we are sponsoring the Diversity and Inclusion Award and we would love to see nominations for those community champions who have gone out of their way to promote diversity and inclusion within our borough.”
