Sefton’s Year Of Friendship celebrates the fittest friendships in May!

The month of May marks Sefton Council’s Year Of Friendship celebration of all things Active.

Throughout May we’ll be taking a look at a host of community groups, teams, individuals and organisations who promote healthy bodies, minds and flourishing friendships through keeping fit, playing sport and much more!

From eager centenarians at the local authority’s very own Active Ageing classes to the mighty Bootle Bucks Inclusion FC making their mark on and off the field, Sefton is a hive of fitness inspired friendships.

Every year hundreds of new friendships are forged through various health and wellbeing clubs and sessions across Sefton and there has never been a better time to get involved in your community.

Keep checking this post for updates throughout May on a whole host of opportunities for you to get fit and make friends in our fantastic borough…

Active Alma says her local health club helps fight off social isolation

Alma Jones, who celebrated her landmark birthday in March, is a familiar face at her local Active Ageing Falls Prevention class and she insists keeping active is key to fighting social isolation and keeping both her mind and body active.

Alma said: “Not only are the Active Ageing classes fantastic for keeping well and building up your muscle strength, they’re also a great opportunity for people to make friends and have a chat between exercises!”
