Seafront Gardens to unveil new Toposcope
Members of local community group Friends of Waterloo Seafront Gardens will be unveiling the latest addition to Adelaide Garden this week – a new toposcope which will take pride of place in the historic gardens.
Thanks to a generous donation from a local resident, and with the support of a local stone mason, the Friends of Waterloo Seafront Gardens have organised a replacement for the long- lost toposcope
The original toposcope – which is a mounted directional plate, and similar in appearance to a sundial – was removed from the seafront gardens in the early 1970s. Volunteers were unable to locate any photographs of the original plate and have had to re-design the details.
The toposcope itself shows the directions and distances to local land marks and places further afield, with a Waterloo or Liverpool connection.
Cllr Veronica Webster will be unveiling the new version at the top of Adelaide Garden steps at 10.00am on Tuesday 25th April 2017.
Friends of Waterloo Seafront Gardens are inviting local residents to attend to the unveiling, and guests are welcome to join the group in at Waterloo Place café for refreshments afterwards.
